First Impressions of Trove, WaPo’s News Aggregation Tool - 10,000 Words

Great thoughtful review of Trove on Media Bistro. Critique is totally fair and exactly pointing the in the direction we’re going.

Washington Post Co. launched its venture into social media on Wednesday with news aggregation website Trove, which filters content from more than 10,000 media sources according to a user’s preferences. We’re still diving into Trove ourselves, but by far the most amazing part of the site is the intro video, created by Next Media Animation.

The L.A. Times. We’re not sure about “most amazing,” but mom always told us not to turn down a compliment. (via trove)

I swear I had nothing to do with the robot reference, but I am quite proud of the Trove editorial team!

Lady Gaga OFFICIAL “Born This Way” ALBUM cover | ONTD

Also born this way? Cy-Kill of the Gobots. They’re both mighty vehicles.

At Washington Post and Register Citizen, ‘report-an-error’ forms make it easier to identify, respond to mistakes | Poynter.

Excellent detailed write up on a great innovation done by the Post. As we move faster and faster in this digital age, copy editing is one of those things that inevitably gets slackened, and it is great to see us innovating our way to improve this rather than just accepting our fate.

Metrics and the newsroom

Great write up by Ken Doctor of the amazing changes led by Raju Narisetti within the Washington Post newsroom as we move to a more metrics driven culture.

The Hackers Who Keep the Washington Post Running - The Atlantic

Great story on some of the super-talented folks at Washington Post working on new forms of story telling.

With the story in the Wall Street Journal, the Trove project is now in the open! The first public facing project of the corporate WaPo Labs team is worthy of real attention.

For now, we’re handing out private beta invites, and are a few weeks from lifting that into a public beta. But the site looks good as is, feedback has been tremendous, and I definitely am addicted to it which is a good thing!

Haiti - 1 year later in Pictures

Foreign Policy continues its great tradition of having powerful photo essays with one on Haiti One Year Later.

This also reminds me, if you haven’t downloaded the excellent Foreign Policy iPhone photo app , FP Wide Angle, you should. It sends notifications once a new essay is up (which is about once a week or two).
